Keep the city running
The streets of CityRP don't look after themselves. Council Service Jobs will put players in charge of the systems everyone else takes for granted. When a traffic light fails or a street light goes dark, it stays that way until a council crew comes out and fixes it.
This is a new line of civilian work built around real, hands-on maintenance. Every job is played out in the world, in full view of the traffic, the public and the emergency services.
Traffic signal repair
When an intersection's signals fail, the lights drop to flashing amber and drivers are left to sort it out themselves. Crews will need to:
- Get to the controller cabinet and diagnose the fault
- Work through the signal timing calculations to bring each phase back in sequence
- Test the intersection and hand it back to traffic
Get the numbers wrong and the lights stay out. Police may need to direct traffic until you get it right.
Street lighting
Dark streets are dangerous streets. Lights will fail across the city over time, and crews will need to:
- Set up a scissor lift safely beside the pole
- Work at height to replace lamps and repair wiring
- Restore the light and clear the site
Road maintenance
Roads wear out. Potholes and damaged surfaces will appear on the network and get worse if they're left alone. Repairs mean:
- Closing a lane with cones, signs and barriers before any work starts
- Running traffic control so vehicles can pass the site safely
- Cutting out and patching the damaged surface
- Reopening the lane once the job is done
And more
The same crews will look after everything else the city needs to keep working:
- Line marking: repainting faded lane lines, give way lines and pedestrian crossings
- Signage: replacing damaged or stolen street signs, speed signs and directional signs
- Storm cleanup: clearing fallen trees and debris from roads after severe weather
- Drainage: clearing blocked stormwater drains before streets flood
- Footpaths: repairing cracked and lifted paths, kerbs and ramps
- Graffiti removal: cleaning tagged walls, signs and public property
- Damage after incidents: replacing bollards, guardrails, poles and light posts that have been hit or vandalised
Why it matters
Every job feeds back into the world. Broken lights lead to crashes, crashes bring police and ambulance, and closed lanes create traffic that other players have to work around. The council keeps the city running, and the rest of the city will notice when you don't.
What your contribution funds
Funding goes towards building the systems behind these jobs: the fault and wear systems, the repair mechanics, the equipment and vehicles, and the custom models needed to make it all work.
